Each ridge of the red belted conk represents a year of growth. Each of these carries stories of its experiences through rain or drought, predators, pathogens and winds along with the inherent wisdom passed from the host tree as its mycelium consumes the wood. The resilience of this polypore mushroom is powerful medicine, building our own resilience (with its immuno-modulating properties) as well as showing me how it can reconnect / remind us of the resilience we've inherited from our ancestors. Following the mycelial threads down our family trees tapping into generations of grit, grounded power and brilliance that have brought us to this point in time. Simply sitting with one of these beings while out in the woods, smelling its distinct earthy sourness and touching its multi-hued bands of growth can bring one into connection with the gifts we hold from our ancestors. Close the eyes and open your heart, allowing oneself to be pulled in and down into the timeless world where our ancestral resilience resides. Sense into your body where this connection resides, trust where you are drawn to. Feel this place of power, ask questions as to its nature. Send gratitude to these beings that have been here before us, for all they have endured, for all that are, for all that they share. The spiraling road ahead of us looms heavy on the horizon as massive changes to Gaia and all life forms are underway. We have the support of our ancestors that have done the necessary work to consciously evolve, as well as the support of these wise fungal beings if we are willing to listen with our hearts and act accordingly.

The solar eclipse energy in Leo's fiery realm was a fitting match for the strength of La Gobernadora's healing power. A quartz geode cup was filled with spring water and her golden flowers were placed on its surface to bask in the sun's rays of the truly enchanted New Mexican desert. This medicine was then preserved in Sotol spirits, another desert ally. The Governess works closely with sun energy in her medicinal power as well. She removes what may fog of one's vision, bringing sharp clarity to situations, thereby allowing one to make divinely guided decisions that serve one's soul purpose. She also showed me how her medicine (vibrational and physical) penetrates through the toughest, false boundaries within us. These boundaries may be built up from past trauma, self created walls, put upon us by others, ancestral imprints, etc. Whatever purpose they have served at some point, they inevitably hold us back from our true state of being which is love. (With the specific intention of returning to this state I have paired this Sun Shadow essence with a Rose flower essence, with beautiful results so far.) She also can put us in touch with our true boundary, getting to know its strength and how to develop one's sense of it. Another aspect of her medicine is one of transition, especially physical death. She can guide one to their next destination, again bringing clarity to one's path. Datura and Black Moonstone infused under the full moon & lunar eclipse of August 2017 Datura inconspicuously holds court with aged cottonwoods and oak trees until the sun’s summer peak, when her alluring and intoxicating glory unfurls under dank, moonlit skies. Her multi-faceted medicine was shown to me rooted in the energy of the north, winter’s territory upon a medicine wheel. Where her perpetually shifting faces peer upon one with such wonder that one is rendered absolutely shifted in their placement in the multiverse. In night shrouded deserts Datura can lead us on a journey of self discovery, shadow work and profound transformations, via fundamental breakthroughs as she breaks down layers of one’s known, consensual reality. The hidden places just beyond the corners of one's inner vision where the roots to our actions and reactions lie, where past traumas may still hold power over us, and yet, where true potential for lasting change exists. If you choose to work with her (or she chooses you for that matter), be prepared for her light to shine upon our roots of stories past for healing to begin. I was led by her to create this Moon Shadow essence, powerful energetic medicine for such transformations. A single, intoxicating blossom of Datura was chosen in the wild beauty of southern New Mexico along with a shimmering orb of Black Moonstone. A mineral whose presence invites one to peer into the deepest reaches of her cosmos, seeing the interplay between dark matter and light filled galaxies upon her gilded bands. These energies were infused in spring water, under the light of the Aquarius full moon and lunar eclipse, this eclipse adding a boost to the potential power and speed of one's transformation. Datura said of this medicine, "This will bring forth a veil of shadow never seen before, allowing one to go deeper into their shadow, learning its ways, knowing it intimately, allowing for one's light to shine brighter." They work together on a level that transcends language, a level where only vibration exists. Like wintertime, this medicine may mask herself in a veil of innocuous stillness, yet under the frozen waters of life her potent energy is consciously moving , carrying foundational transformation to one's whole being. If you feel drawn to work with Datura as an ally on your path, her flower essence is a safe method, as ingesting her plant matter is ill advised due to her highly psychoactive and potentially deadly tendencies. (Do not mistake safe as simple though, this is powerful medicine that can quite literally rock your world.) It bears repeating: be fully aware when deciding if this essence is right for you at this moment in time. If you are feeling grounded in life and have a network of support available to you, and feel ready and willing to plunge into the depths of one's shadow then this medicine may be for you. Basically I'm saying, be prepared for shit to get real, with the knowledge that it is for a shift into a new level of awareness. This Moon Shadow essence is just one way to work with Datura’s essence, there are quite a few magical folks creating beautiful medicine (Alchemy of Artemis and Desert Alchemy are two that I have experienced). Pay attention if you feel drawn to a specific plant essence, gem or other carrier of medicine, they are probably reaching out to work with you. Sitting with a flower / gem essence for a lunar cycle is a profound path to developing a relationship with that spirit being. Rest comfortably in a darkened space, seated or lying down, and begin to work with just a drop or two of the essence on your tongue. Close your eyes and focus on where the drops entered your body, feel as their energy merges with your own. Sit with whatever experience arises for the next 5 - 10 minutes or longer. I encourage you to keep a journal of your experiences for a couple of reasons. One; it will be a reference for weeks, months or years down your path, when you realize one day how profoundly your life has slowly, but most definitely shifted. In my personal experience with energy medicine this is how it tends to work, not that immediate change doesn't occur, it does, but those foundational shifts in understanding and perspective are inconspicuously built in small increments. One day you awaken to realize you are in an entirely new place from which to view the world. You are able to look back upon your written path and see how all of those seemingly small pieces fell into place at exactly the right time, in exactly the right place. Two; placing your visions into the physical world via pen and paper solidifies their existence and therefore increases their power. I highly recommend this, as my journals are probably my most treasured tools on this spiritual journey.   I can only describe my initial meeting with her as cosmic in source, a connection strung from the stars. Amongst the well worn boulders, water and sand of Pedernales Falls stood American Water Willow in her full regalia. Delicate pairs of tiny orchid-like petals curled open, milky white with a spotted tongue of violet sticking out at one. Her feet stood in single file formation as she coaxed the shallow waters through her verdant skirts. Once hidden pockets of her began to appear as if out of thin air, she manifested a map for one's feet to follow from stand to watery stand. Water Willow clears our central channel and fosters a stronger relationship with our crown chakra. I first experienced this flower essence as energy moving in a clockwise elliptical cycle in my head, flowing back through my right eye, to the base of my skull and around. This progressed into a surge of energy building at my crown and quickly shooting down my spine to my root and back up again. A feeling of clarity came forth as she was clearing out gunk (as she put it) from this central channel where one's chakras originate. She said that as she clears this central channel, other channels would begin to clear as well, allowing a free flow of vital, pranic energy throughout the body. Water willow is associated with the crown chakra as her doctrine of signatures implies with her light reflections of white and purple, those colors of the ethereal upper chakras, nobility and spirit. She helps one to develop a stronger connection to their crown, to the spirit realm and to one's higher chakras beyond the physical body. As one's central channel clears, more energy is able to descend from these higher dimensions/realms/beings and be integrated into our body and awareness. This essence was created under the balancing influence of the Taurus sun and new moon as the grounded, slow moving earthiness of the Taurus bull helps to draw water willow's ethereal crown energy down to our root and embody the changes underway. As one works with this medicine she invites us to "Speak Up" to enhance her power. This is of course open to one's interpretation, for me it has manifested as stating my prayers and intentions out loud to the universe. Our spoken words are powerful vibrations that influence the grid of potential outcomes. As she has the ability to help one create a clear and open channel to the source of creation, she is also empowering us to co-create what we call reality. (On that note this is not the fluffy, self help, law of attraction sort of creation that creates spiritual bypass.) If we have not cultivated a deep relationship with spirit and consciously delved into the depths of our shadow, then maybe the things we are praying for are not our true path. Maybe we must first pray for clarity so that we may know what else it is we are to be praying for, and thereby creating. Work with this energetic medicine intentionally, perhaps setting aside time to sit and meditate with her. A powerful way to cultivate a healing relationship with essences is to sit with them everyday for a moon cycle while keeping a journal of your experiences together. These divine beings have so much wisdom to share with us if we are willing to sit down and listen.  |
